Boss Joe Royle has confirmed the club will be appealing against Richard Naylor's red card at Millwall. The Town manager says he was confident his side would beat the Lions even after referee Mark Halsey had given Naylor his marching orders for denying Barry Hayles an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Goals from Richard Naylor and Ian Westlake took the Blues to a thoroughly deserved 2-1 home victory over Sheffield Wednesday. Town were irresistible in a first half during which Naylor headed the opener, Westlake adding a second after the break before Lee Peacock's late consolation.

Dean Bowditch scored a hat-trick as Town's reserves romped to a 6-2 win at AFC Sudbury. The Blues came behind to beat the Ridgeons League side having spurned numerous first half chances, the other goals eventually coming from Liam Craig, Darryl Knights and Dean McDonald.

Town suffered their first defeat of the pre-season campaign as Rangers came away from Portman Road with a 2-0 win. Peter Lovenkrands opened the scoring in the 54th minute and Nacho Novo sealed the win two minutes from the end.
